1-2 years 1 member of staff per 3 children
2-3 years 1 member of staff per 4 children
3-4 years 1 member of staff per 8 children

Settling In Policy Overview

We work with parents and carers to ensure the smooth transition between home and Nursery and to ensure the needs of each individual child is met. We will adapt each child’s settling in session to suit their individual needs. We can discuss this with you on registration.

Safeguarding Policy

Staff working in the nursery have a duty of care towards the children attending and this duty brings with it responsibility to ensure all efforts are made to safeguard children from suspected and actual harm. Children attending the nursery have a right to feel safe and staff, in partnership with parents and carers, have a responsibility to act on any concerns they may have regarding a child’s welfare and well-being.

E Safety Policy

Little Wonders Day Nursery has a commitment to keeping children safe in relation to electronic communications of all types.
The internet is now regarded as an essential resource to support teaching and learning. Computer skills are vital to accessing life-long learning and employment. It is important for children to learn to be safe online from an early age and the nursery can play a vital part in starting this process.
There is a requirement to provide children with as safe an internet environment as possible and a need to begin to teach them to be aware of and respond responsibly to possible risks

Ill Child Policy

We cannot accept children in the nursery who are suffering from any infectious diseases. If your child has sickness or diarrhoea a period of exclusion is until child is symptom free for 48 hours. If your child has chicken pox, measles or any other infectious diseases please keep them at home until the symptoms have cleared or until medical advice has been sought.
If a child becomes ill whilst at nursery, we will give you a call and ask you to collect them as soon as possible.
We reserve the right to take your child to hospital in an emergency.

Personal Details

Personal details given to us on registration are kept confidential at all times. Please keep us informed of any changes in details so we can keep our records up to date.

Food and Drink Policy

Nutrition and the promotion of healthy lifestyle choices is very important to us. We believe that healthy eating habits in a child’s Early Years are fundamental to their development and future lifestyle choices. All meals provided are healthy, balanced and nutritious and children will always have access to fresh drinking water.
Before a child is admitted to the setting we ask parents to complete a registration form detailing any special dietary requirements, preferences and food allergies that the child may have.
Each meal is prepared fresh on a daily basis by our in house chef. The menus are on a four week rota and are revised twice a year to reflect the local seasonal produce available. Children with special dietary requirements are also provided for as special dishes are prepared specially for their needs.
